I have the DXR-8 and love it, LOVE it! The DXR-8 is even better!
Again, no hate for the DXR-8, it’s a great camera/monitor combo, the pro version just has some nicer features/quality of life upgrades:
-The video quality is better on the pro. It’s good on the DXR-8, but it’s even crisper/clearer on the pro.
-Buttons on the top of the monitor to control screen brightness and volume. You can control brightness on the D8, but the buttons on top make it easier/more convenient.
-Larger screen. Not necessary, but nice feature. The whole screen can be viewed at once.
-Better Zoom. You can zoom on both (and you can add a zoom lens on either as well) but the pro has a closer zoom.
-Active Sound Reduction. This is a neat feature! It fills background noise such as a fan or AC unit. It DOESN’T work for sound machines because they produce a different type of sound wave. We use a sound machine, so this feature doesn’t really work for us currently, but that isn’t a dealbreaker for me. The D8 doesn’t have that feature, so it’s no different than what we were using.
-You can dim the LED lights on the side. Maybe I care about this more then most, but I’m light sensitive when I’m trying to sleep, so being able to dim it is a nice bonus for me.
-You can change the alert tone and volume. The annoying beep that occurs when the battery is dying or if you’re out of range can be changed to something more pleasant. Not a big deal, but a nice touch!
